BBQ Pits
No Permits Required
Location
Barbeque pits shall not be located with 10 feet of combustible walls, roofs or other combustible material. Keep pit a safe distance from trees. It is possible for the root system to ignite and travel to the base of the tree and cause a fire. It’s always best to line your B-B-Q with brick, but not necessary when you have a big open area where there are no tree roots.
Extinguishing Equipment
A garden hose connected to a water supply or other approved fire extinguishing equipment shall be readily available.
Notify Dispatch
Before you light your fire, call our Dispatch Center at (619) 441-1621 and let them know you will be having a pit BBQ.
NOTE
Many times someone will see the flames and think there is a fire at your address. When you are finished with your BBQ, extinguish all coals with water until they are cool to the touch.
