Why do fire trucks go on medical aid calls when there is an ambulance sent as well?
All firefighters are also EMT's (and some are even paramedics). With that being said, often times the fire truck will get there first and can start treatment upon arrival before the ambulance arrives. Also, firefighters are able to provide additional man power and assistance if needed.
